What are tone, back-translation, and cross-language review?

You opened the AI reply dialog and want to understand tone, back-translation, and the cross-language review setting.

Tone

1. Step 1 — Match the original

   Default: reply style follows the incoming mail’s formality.

2. Step 2 — Formal / Friendly / Concise

   Overrides to steer business tone, warm tone, or short replies.

Back-translation

After a draft is produced in the recipient’s language, the app can show a read-only translation back to your UI language so you verify the meaning before inserting into compose.

Cross-language review setting

In Settings → AI, an option controls whether to pop the review window when the draft script looks very different from your UI language. Turn it on if you often correspond in languages you do not read fluently.
