What is Files Manager?
Files Manager is a free file manager and archive manager for Windows. It gives you a fast, safe, and highly customizable way to browse, organize, search, and share your files. It is built on the proven Files Community engine, so you get powerful tools in an easy-to-use, modern interface.
What can you do with it?
- Manage files & folders — create, rename (including bulk rename), copy, move, delete, and inspect properties.
- Navigate with ease — tabs, split panes, a sidebar, and quick back / forward / up navigation.
- Search — fast basic search with wildcards, plus advanced query syntax, tag queries, and a command palette.
- Work with archives — compress to ZIP / 7z / TAR / GZIP with passwords and split volumes, and extract almost any archive.
- Find duplicate files — detect identical files by size and hash.
- Preview — image thumbnails, a preview pane, an info pane, and a quick preview popup.
- Customize — themes, backdrop materials, layouts, sorting, grouping, and a reorderable toolbar.
- Power tools — Git integration, hashes, run as administrator, set wallpapers, install fonts, and more.

Quick Start
Step 1. Install Files Manager from the Microsoft Store (button in the top bar), then launch it.
Step 2. On first launch the app opens the Home view, which shows Quick Access, Drives, Network locations, File Tags, and Recent files widgets. Pick a drive or folder to start browsing.
Step 3. Double-click any file or folder to open it. Right-click any item to reveal a context menu with copy, rename, delete, compress, hash, share, and more.
Step 4. Explore the tabs and sidebar, then continue through the tutorial pages to master every feature.
